Charlotte Water Damage GuidePlain answers after a flood, leak or storm

CHARLOTTE GUIDE

Storm water getting into Charlotte homes

Tropical remnants and stalled summer storms test grading, window wells and crawlspace vents across the Piedmont.

Common entry paths

Poor grading toward the foundation, short downspouts, window wells, door thresholds and block crawlspace vents during wind-driven rain.

Crawlspaces

Standing water on a vapor barrier is both a moisture and a contamination question if outdoor water carried silt and runoff. Say how deep it was and whether it reached HVAC equipment.

After the storm

Extraction and drying still follow the same clock. Drainage fixes are a separate project—don’t let a contractor blur emergency drying with a full regrade upsell you didn’t approve in writing.

What to photograph

High-water marks, entry points, wet insulation and any HVAC equipment that sat in water.
